ChatGPT Enterprise vs Pro: Individual Access or Team Controls?
ChatGPT Pro is the highest-tier individual subscription. ChatGPT Enterprise is the organization-managed plan with admin controls and compliance terms. Here is how to choose.
Updated 5 min read
ChatGPT Pro is an individual subscription giving one person higher compute capacity and access to advanced reasoning features. ChatGPT Enterprise is an organization-managed plan designed for teams that need SSO sign-in, admin controls, compliance terms, and a negotiated contract. Pro makes one person more capable. Enterprise adds the oversight and management a company requires.
Neither plan makes work portable across tools. Tools like fenbs keep the team's projects, decisions, and progress in a shared record that every connected AI can read, so the work survives a plan change or a model switch without anyone having to re-explain the background.
At a glance
| Area | Pro | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | One individual who needs maximum compute | Organizations needing admin, SSO, and compliance controls |
| Accounts | One person per subscription | Multiple seats with a shared team workspace |
| Purchasing | Self-service, credit card | Negotiated contract through OpenAI sales |
| Sign-in | Personal email or social account | Supports SSO and SAML for managed identity |
| Sharing | No shared workspace or team features | Admin console, shared instructions, usage visibility |
| Compliance | Standard terms | Expanded data controls and contractual compliance options |
What Pro is designed for
Pro is aimed at individual power users: researchers, developers, writers, and analysts who push against the limits of lower tiers regularly. It gives one person access to higher-capacity models and more compute, allowing longer or more demanding requests without hitting a usage ceiling mid-task.
Pro is a personal subscription. There is no way to share access, no admin console, and no team workspace. If the person who holds the subscription leaves a project, the chat history and setup go with their account. Colleagues on different plans start fresh.
What Enterprise is designed for
Enterprise is built around the needs of an organization rather than an individual. It adds SSO and SAML sign-in so an IT team can manage access through a company identity provider. It adds an admin console so someone can see who has seats, set shared instructions, and review usage. And it adds contractual data-handling terms that a legal team can review and approve before the organization starts.
Enterprise is also for teams. Multiple colleagues share a workspace, and the organization controls what they can set up. That is very different from Pro, where the power user is in full control of their own account without anyone else having visibility.
Collaboration and shared work
Pro has no collaboration features. Two people on Pro each have their own separate account and cannot share a workspace, see each other's conversations, or apply shared instructions. If they need to work together, they share information the same way anyone shares information across separate accounts.
Enterprise provides a shared workspace. Members join an organization, custom instructions can apply to everyone, and an admin can manage the whole deployment from one console. See ChatGPT Enterprise for teams for more on what the workspace includes.
In either case, the work lives in ChatGPT. If a colleague uses Claude or Cursor, they start from zero. Keeping projects, tasks, and Decisions and rules in fenbs gives every connected AI app a shared starting point, regardless of which individual plans team members hold.
Share the work even when plans differ
fenbs keeps the team's projects, tasks, and Decisions and rules in one shared board. A colleague on ChatGPT Enterprise and a freelancer on Claude can both connect to the same work record through their own apps. Roles control access, and History records every change.

Administration and IT requirements
Pro requires no IT involvement. One person signs up with an email address and a payment method. There is nothing for an IT team to manage, provision, or revoke except the person's own account.
Enterprise is built to satisfy an IT team's requirements. SSO and SAML sign-in mean access is tied to the company identity provider: when someone leaves and their company account is disabled, their ChatGPT access goes with it. The admin console gives visibility and control that Pro simply does not have.
Purchasing and contracts
Pro is self-service. Log in to your OpenAI account, choose the plan, and enter payment details. The upgrade is immediate.
Enterprise requires a sales conversation and a signed contract. That takes longer but sets terms around data handling, support levels, and usage that a company's legal and procurement teams can review. See OpenAI’s Enterprise pricing page for how the contract process works and what it typically covers.
Choosing between them
If you are one person doing demanding individual work and you do not need to share a workspace with colleagues, Pro is the plan to consider. If you are making a decision for a team or an organization — especially one with IT, legal, or compliance requirements — Enterprise is the relevant option.
- Pro fits: a solo researcher, developer, or analyst who needs maximum individual compute and has no team sharing or compliance requirement.
- Enterprise fits: an organization deploying ChatGPT to multiple colleagues, especially where IT manages identities or legal needs to review terms.
- Team is the middle option if you need a shared workspace without going through a contract process — see ChatGPT Enterprise for teams.
The decision is worth recording. Write down what was chosen and why so the next person who asks does not start the evaluation from scratch. See ChatGPT for business and Claude vs ChatGPT for comparisons that may feed that decision.
How to do this with fenbs
Whether one power user holds a Pro plan or the whole organization is on Enterprise, the shared work can live in fenbs alongside it. Start by recording the plan decision so every AI the team connects reads the same context.
- Create a free account at fenbs and add the team's main project.
- Record the plan decision in Decisions and rules: which plan was chosen, why, and who made the call. A standing rule means every connected AI reads it before starting work.
- Add any standing instructions that apply across all work, such as which models to prefer for specific tasks.
- Connect AI apps from Integrations. Each connected app reads the rules and current project state before it works.
- When the plan decision is revisited — a Pro user joining a team, or an organization upgrading to Enterprise — record the new decision alongside the old one.
