AI Notes in Google Meet: Set Up, Review, and Share Next Steps
Google Meet can generate AI meeting notes and summaries for qualifying Google Workspace accounts. Here is how to check availability, find the notes after the meeting, and turn confirmed decisions and tasks into a record your whole team can use.

Google Meet can generate AI meeting notes for qualifying Google Workspace accounts. The feature creates a summary of the meeting and sends it to the organizer automatically after the call ends. Finding it, reviewing it for accuracy, and deciding what to do with the confirmed decisions are the three steps that make it useful.
Like any AI-generated summary, the notes reflect what the system detected, not necessarily what was agreed. Tools like fenbs give teams a place to record the confirmed decisions and tasks that should shape the next session, separate from the raw summary.
Which Google accounts include AI notes in Meet
AI meeting notes in Google Meet are part of the Gemini add-on for Google Workspace. Availability depends on your Workspace edition and whether your organization has enabled the Gemini features. Personal Google accounts do not include this feature.
Check your Workspace admin settings or ask your Google Workspace admin whether the Gemini add-on is active for your account. If you are not sure, visit Google Meet support (opens in a new tab) for the current list of plans that include the feature. Google Workspace features change; check there rather than relying on a summary.
How to turn on AI notes before the meeting
AI notes are usually managed by the meeting organizer. In the Meet settings for the meeting, look for the option to take notes with Gemini. Turning it on before the meeting ensures the feature is active when the call starts.
- Open the Google Calendar event for the meeting.
- Click Edit and look for the Google Meet settings panel. Find the option for AI-generated notes and enable it.
- Alternatively, during the meeting, use the More options or Activities menu to check whether note-taking is running.
- After the meeting ends, look for an email with the notes sent to the organizer's Gmail account.
Participants are notified when note-taking is active during the call. You cannot run AI notes silently in a Google Meet.
What the AI captures and where to find it
Google Meet's AI notes are emailed to the meeting organizer after the call. The email includes a summary of the main discussion points and a list of action items the AI detected. The notes are also saved as a Google Doc in the organizer's Drive.
The summary is the AI's interpretation of the conversation, based on what was said. A point labeled as an action item may have been a question, a conditional comment, or a completed step. Review the notes with an attendee before treating any item as a confirmed task.
Reviewing the summary and identifying real decisions
Open the Google Doc with the notes while the meeting is still recent. Read through the summary and action items and check each one against what you remember. You are looking for decisions that were actually made and tasks that were genuinely agreed.
- Confirm or reword each action item. Remove items nobody agreed to.
- Add the name of the person responsible for each confirmed task and any deadline discussed.
- Separate decisions from tasks. A decision is what the group agreed; a task is the action that follows.
- Flag anything unclear and check with another attendee before adding it to the team's record.

How to do this with fenbs
- Create a free account and set up a project for the work your Google Meet covers.
- After reviewing the AI notes in the Google Doc, add confirmed tasks to the fenbs project board with an owner and a clear next step.
- Record confirmed decisions in Decisions and rules, with the reason and who made the call.
- Connect your AI assistant via Integrations so it reads those decisions before starting work.
- Ask the assistant to save progress at the end of each session so the next meeting starts from a current record.
Move confirmed decisions out of the Google Doc
After reviewing your Google Meet AI notes, add the decisions that should hold going forward to Decisions and rules in fenbs. A connected assistant reads those first, before the Google Doc or any transcript, so every session starts from what was actually agreed. Save progress before you finish and the next meeting has a reliable starting point.

When Google Meet AI notes may not appear
If no email arrives after the meeting, check whether the Gemini note-taking feature was turned on before the call started. Notes are not generated retroactively from a recording. If the feature was on but notes still did not arrive, check your spam folder and your Google Workspace admin settings.
Also check whether the meeting was long enough to trigger the feature. Very short calls sometimes do not produce a summary. If the meeting was under a few minutes and ended before substantive discussion happened, no notes may be generated.
If your account does not include the Gemini add-on, consider a third-party note tool. Some connect directly to Meet; others can transcribe a recording after the fact.
