Notion AI Meeting Notes Free Limit: What to Check
Notion AI meeting notes are part of the Notion AI add-on, which has a usage allowance. Here is how to find out which limit applies to you and what to do when you hit it.

Notion AI meeting notes are powered by the Notion AI add-on, which has a usage allowance rather than being unlimited on any plan. If you have hit the limit, the AI summary or transcription feature will be unavailable until the allowance resets or you upgrade. fenbs is not a transcription tool, but it keeps the decisions and action items from any meeting in a place your connected AI assistants can find and act on, independent of which note-taking tool you use.
The first step is to check which limit actually applies to your account, because the Notion AI allowance depends on your Notion plan and whether Notion AI is included or added separately.
How Notion AI meeting notes work
Notion AI meeting notes connect to your calendar and the conferencing software you use. When a meeting ends, Notion can generate a summary and extract action items using its AI features. The feature runs on Notion AI, which is a paid add-on for most Notion plans.
Notion's free plan does not include Notion AI. If you are on the free plan and trying to use AI meeting notes, you will need to add Notion AI to your account. Users on paid Notion plans may have Notion AI included or available to add. Check your current plan at Notion's pricing page (opens in a new tab) and the AI add-on options available to you.
Where to check your AI usage
In Notion, go to Settings and members, then look for the AI section or usage tab. This shows how much of your AI allowance has been used and when it resets. If you are on a team workspace, the workspace owner controls the AI settings and will see the usage totals.
Usage limits in Notion AI are tied to AI requests, not specifically to meeting note transcriptions. Using AI to write a page, summarize a document, or generate meeting notes all draw from the same pool. If you have been using Notion AI extensively for other tasks, the meeting notes feature may become unavailable before you expect it.
What to do when the limit is reached
If you hit the limit mid-month, you have a few options: wait for the allowance to reset at the start of the next billing period, upgrade to a higher plan or a higher AI add-on tier, or use an alternative meeting note tool for the current month.
Taking brief manual notes during a meeting and typing the decisions and action items directly into fenbs immediately afterward is a reliable fallback that does not depend on any AI usage allowance. The AI summary is convenient; the decisions and actions are what actually drive the work that follows the meeting.
For team workspaces, the workspace admin can check whether additional AI usage is available or whether a plan upgrade is needed. Individual users on personal plans manage this through their own account settings. Notion's help center at notion.so/help (opens in a new tab) has current guidance on AI usage limits and reset schedules.
How to get more from each AI meeting note session
If you are close to your limit, prioritize which meetings get AI summaries. A long planning meeting with several decisions and action items is worth using an AI credit on. A quick status call where you already know the outcome is not. Review the calendar at the start of the week and decide in advance which meetings need AI notes.
When you do run an AI meeting note session, extract the decisions and action items immediately and move them somewhere you can act on them. Meeting notes that live only in a Notion page are not useful if the AI usage runs out before the follow-up work is done.
Keep decisions and follow-ups where your AI can reach them
After each meeting, pull the agreed decisions and action items out of Notion AI and into fenbs as tasks and Decisions and rules. When your Notion AI limit is reached and the next session needs to continue the work, your connected assistant can read those decisions and tasks directly from fenbs without needing the Notion transcript.

How to do this with fenbs
- Create a free account and add a project for the ongoing work your meetings inform.
- After each meeting, open the Notion AI summary and copy the agreed decisions into fenbs as Decisions and rules. Add action items as tasks on the kanban board.
- Assign each task to a lane: To Do for actions not yet started, Next Up for the ones being prioritized, In Progress when work begins.
- Connect Claude over MCP from Integrations so your connected assistant reads current tasks and decisions before each session.
- When Notion AI is unavailable, take your own notes and add the decisions and actions directly to fenbs. The project record stays current regardless of which note tool you used.
Alternatives when Notion AI is unavailable
Several other AI meeting note tools offer free tiers you can use alongside or instead of Notion AI when your limit is reached. Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai both have free tiers with monthly transcription limits. For a broader comparison, see AI meeting note takers.
For the difference between Notion's AI features and its MCP integration, see Notion MCP vs Notion AI. That article covers which features are AI features (subject to usage limits) and which are data-access features available regardless of your AI allowance.
