How to use Le Chat Libraries for source-based work
Build a reusable collection of documents, attach it to a chat, and check the answer against the original material before you use it.

To use Le Chat Libraries, open Libraries in the sidebar, choose New Library, add your sources, and attach the Library through + → Libraries in a chat. Mistral now calls Le Chat Vibe (opens in a new tab), so current instructions refer to Vibe Work. Keep the documents there and save the useful conclusions in fenbs, so another AI can continue the work without repeating your reading.
How do you create and fill a Library?
A Library keeps documents and indexed webpages available across sessions. Start with one subject that you can describe in a sentence, such as approved packaging specifications or public research on a material. A small, clearly named collection is easier to check than a mixture of unrelated files.
- Open
Librariesfrom the sidebar and clickNew Library. - Give the Library a name that tells you what belongs in it. Include a version or date in your own naming scheme when that helps distinguish sources.
- Drag in the files or click
Upload. Add the material you have permission to use. - For a webpage, choose
Webpage, enter its URL, and clickIndex. - Open a chat, click
+, chooseLibraries, and attach the collection you want to use.
These are the documented steps in Mistral’s Libraries guide (opens in a new tab). The guide describes the sidebar interface; do not assume the same setup path exists in each phone app. If your work depends on mobile setup, confirm that path in your account before making it part of a routine.
Should you use a Library or a one-off attachment?
Use a Library when the same source material will support several questions or sessions. A one-off attachment suits a single question about a single document. Choose based on how long you need the material, rather than uploading every file you own just in case.
| Your need | A practical choice | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| One question about one file | Keep the source set limited to that file | Does the answer refer to the right version? |
| Repeated questions about the same sources | Create and attach a Library | Are all documents still current? |
| Several chats with common instructions | Consider a Vibe Project | Do its shared instructions fit every chat? |
Projects group chats, instructions, and shared files (opens in a new tab), while Libraries keep reusable source material. Neither choice tells you which conclusion a person has approved. For broader workflow choices, see Claude versus Mistral; this page focuses on getting your collection ready to use.
How do you check a source-based answer?
Ask one narrow question first. For example: “Using only these packaging specifications, list the approved materials and name the source for each answer. Keep unclear points separate.” This gives you a manageable result to compare with the originals before asking for a longer report.
- Pick a claim that matters to the decision you are making.
- Find the supporting passage in the original document and read the surrounding text.
- Check the document title and version. Similar filenames can describe different policies.
- Separate what the source says from what the assistant recommends.
- Mark missing or conflicting evidence as an open question instead of asking for a confident guess.
A sentence can accurately describe one document while missing an exception elsewhere. Try a second question that looks for exclusions, dates, or conditions. Save the checked conclusion and its source in fenbs’s shared work record, so the next session can see both the finding and the reason to trust it.
What can go wrong with uploads and webpages?
The Libraries guide describes upload and file-size limits, plus a monthly processing allowance shared across Libraries. Use the linked vendor guide for the current numbers instead of treating a remembered limit as a guarantee. More available storage does not make irrelevant source material useful.
- A webpage is incomplete: indexing includes its text, not child pages, images, or charts. Add the separate page you actually need.
- Two sources disagree: identify their versions and owners before choosing which one governs your work.
- The answer is too broad: attach only the relevant Library and narrow the question.
- A scan needs careful checking: compare the text against the page image before relying on names or numbers.
- The upload will not proceed: check the current processing allowance and file rules in the vendor guide.
For a fuller way to review findings, use the Le Chat research workflow. Instructions also matter: the separate Mistral system prompt guide covers how to frame a request without turning every source document into a rule.
Who should be able to change the collection?
New Libraries are private. The documented Share options include Collaborator, Viewer, and Entire organization. Review the available permission level before granting access, and choose what fits the person’s work. Check the intended audience before widening access, especially when a collection includes internal material.
Deleting a Library permanently removes its documents. Keep your original source files in their approved home and treat cleanup as a deliberate action. Before removing a collection, decide whether its checked findings still need to guide someone’s work and save those findings separately.
Never lose the work you did in an AI session
After a useful AI session, save it in fenbs: the key observations, findings, research and context. Then carry on from exactly where you left off, on any device and in any other AI. The next AI you connect reads it at the start of the session, so you never have to explain the same problem again.

How to keep Library findings with fenbs
Keep what you learned so you can carry on from exactly where you left off, on any device and in any other connected AI. You do not need to copy every document or every answer.
- Create a free account.
- Write the question you were trying to answer and the finding you checked. Include the source name and the part that supports it.
- Connect Le Chat to fenbs through the current Vibe Work connector controls. Use Integrations for connection guidance; an administrator must add a custom connector.
- Save what is still unclear and the next thing to check. Ask your next connected AI to read that record before continuing.
fenbs keeps the work that came out of reading. It does not replace a document archive or verify the source for you. If you only need one answer and have no work to continue, keeping the original file and your checked answer may be enough. Find more practical workflows in AI at work.
