How to Save a Gamma AI Presentation and Check the Export
Keep the live Gamma presentation, export the right offline copy, and check what changed before you send it.

To save a Gamma AI presentation as a file, open Share, choose Export, select the intended cards, and pick PDF or PowerPoint. Keep the original Gamma link too: the live presentation and your downloaded copy serve different purposes.
A successful download still needs a review in the application where it will be used. fenbs can retain the final deck link, review decisions, and remaining tasks, so the next person or assistant knows which version you approved.
What are the steps to save an offline copy?
- Open the intended presentation in the correct Gamma workspace. Check the title and a recently edited slide.
- Select Share, then Export. The top-right three-dot menu also offers Export.
- Check the scope control and choose All cards for the full presentation, or deliberately select the smaller part you need.
- Choose PDF, PowerPoint, or another offered format. Locate the downloaded output once it is ready.
- Open the output, check the first and last slides, then review the presentation all the way through before delivering it.
These controls come from Gamma’s export guide (opens in a new tab). Checking the scope is especially useful when a download succeeds but seems incomplete. Do not assume that a file with the correct title necessarily contains the entire presentation.
Do you need a live link or a downloaded file?
Gamma describes its working presentations as automatically saved live documents (opens in a new tab). A shared web link can reflect later edits, while a PDF or PowerPoint export is a separate snapshot. Keep that distinction clear when someone asks you to “save the final deck.”
| Need | Useful choice | Review before delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Let people read the evolving presentation | Gamma sharing link | Audience access and whether future edits should be visible |
| Keep a fixed approval copy | PDF export | Page count, readability, and approved wording |
| Continue work in PowerPoint | PPTX export | Editing behavior, fonts, and layout in PowerPoint |
| Use slides as individual images | PNG export | Slide selection, image clarity, and file organization |
For an approval meeting, you might retain a fixed PDF of what was reviewed and use the live deck for subsequent work. Label both clearly. This is a practical way to prevent a later edit from obscuring what someone actually approved, without stopping useful collaboration.
If the question is which slide tool to use, read AI presentation makers; this workflow starts with a Gamma presentation you already have.
What can change when you export the presentation?
Gamma’s export guide says exports reflect Present mode rather than Edit mode. It lists PDF as static output, and notes that some advanced visual effects can use fallback styling. Check the presented view first, then judge the downloaded file against that view rather than the editing canvas alone.
A recipient’s application matters too. Gamma’s troubleshooting guidance (opens in a new tab) explains that Google Slides can substitute fonts when opening an uploaded PowerPoint file. If the destination is PowerPoint, test there; if the destination is Google Slides, test the converted presentation there as well.
- Check headings for unexpected wrapping and body text for readability.
- Compare chart labels, table values, and source references with the approved content.
- Look for clipped material at slide edges and missing or distorted images.
- Test links and prepare a clear alternative for anything that needs a live connection.
AI-generated wording deserves a separate factual review. Open the original sources behind significant claims and check any numbers against their input data. Record corrections as tasks instead of relying on someone to remember a comment made during a slide review.
Why is Export missing, incomplete, or failing?
First separate an access problem from a file-generation problem. Gamma’s sharing documentation (opens in a new tab) says view-only links do not include its built-in export controls. If someone sent you a presentation, ask the owner for an authorized download or the access needed for your task.
For a failing export you are allowed to make, note the format, error message, and whether the problem affects the whole presentation or a particular section. Gamma’s troubleshooting page recommends retrying and checking the network or browser when exports fail. For persistent problems, give support the affected link and export details rather than repeatedly downloading the same broken file.
If a file contains only one card, check the scope before investigating layout. If branding is unexpected, consult the current export documentation for your workspace rather than assuming an earlier subscription state controls the output. Avoid changing several settings at once; a small, identifiable change makes the next comparison useful.
How do you share the approved version with the right access?
In Gamma’s Share panel, review the intended audience and the distinction between viewing, commenting, and editing. Its sharing documentation warns that workspace permissions can override individual settings. Check both the presentation and workspace access when the result differs from what you expected.
Then send a short delivery note: presentation purpose, approved revision, intended audience, and next action. If you attach a PDF and include a live link, explain which one records the approved presentation and which one may change. An unlabeled pair of links creates another version question for the recipient.
Keep the checked links and their purposes in fenbs’s shared work record. This is one practical application of an AI brain: preserve the reasoning and work around the artifact, rather than making someone recover it from an old conversation.
Give the next reviewer a reliable starting point
Keep the live Gamma URL and the approved delivery location in Links and listings. Record the person’s review decision and create tasks for unresolved edits, so another assistant can continue with the right deck and a clear next step.

How to do this with fenbs
- Create a free account and add the presentation’s project.
- Add the live deck and approved export location to Links and listings, naming each for its purpose.
- Record the presentation requirements and the choices a person approved in Decisions and rules. Keep open review questions separate from approved wording.
- Create tasks for remaining edits and save Where we left off with the reviewed version, verification performed, and next action.
fenbs does not export Gamma presentations, repair their layout, or store your slide files. Gamma alone may be enough for a one-time presentation. fenbs becomes useful when the deck is part of ongoing work with a repeatable AI handoff.
What is the last check before you close the project?
Open the delivered copy from its final location and check the version a recipient will find there. Confirm that any correction made during export testing reached that copy. If you could only check on your own computer, say so; the presenter should still test the actual device and display.
Keep the source link, approved output, and handoff note together, then close the export task when those checks pass. More workflows appear in AI at work and how to use AI at work.
