ChatGPT Connector for HubSpot: Options and Setup
ChatGPT can connect to HubSpot through approved integration routes to read CRM data during conversations. Here is how to check the available options, what permissions to review, and how fenbs keeps the agreed customer follow-up work available to the next assistant session.

Connecting ChatGPT to HubSpot gives the assistant access to contact records, deals, companies and activity during a conversation, which helps with drafting follow-ups, analyzing pipeline data, and preparing for sales calls. The available integration routes depend on your HubSpot plan and your ChatGPT plan. Tools like fenbs keep the agreed customer follow-up tasks and handoff notes available to the next assistant session, so action items from a CRM review do not get lost between conversations.
Understanding which route is available to you before you start saves the frustration of setting up a connection that your plan does not support.
Connection routes available today
There are two practical ways to connect ChatGPT and HubSpot. The first is through an official ChatGPT connector, if HubSpot appears in the connector list in your account settings. The second is through an MCP server for HubSpot, which can be a community-built or organization-built server that follows the Model Context Protocol standard.
Check OpenAI's current documentation (opens in a new tab) and HubSpot's integrations directory (opens in a new tab) for the current status. Integration availability changes as both platforms develop. The ChatGPT connectors and apps page lists what is available in the interface today.
What to check before connecting
CRM data includes personal information about contacts and customers. Before connecting ChatGPT to HubSpot, review these points.
- Which CRM objects will the connection expose? Contacts, deals, companies and tickets may each have different sensitivity levels.
- Is the connection read-only? Unless you need the assistant to update records, start with read-only access.
- Does your HubSpot admin need to approve the connection? Super Admins control which apps can access the HubSpot portal.
- What data protection rules apply to your contacts? B2B contacts in the US may be subject to state privacy laws; confirm the connection fits your compliance requirements.
- Who in your organization should be aware of this connection? CRM access is usually a team decision, not an individual one.
What ChatGPT can do with HubSpot access
With read access to HubSpot, ChatGPT can summarize a contact's recent activity, draft a personalized follow-up based on deal stage, identify stalled deals in the pipeline, or pull together context before a client call. These tasks save meaningful time for sales and account management work.
What the assistant cannot do is make reliable decisions about customer relationships on its own. Those decisions belong with the account manager or sales rep, recorded clearly so the next session or handoff starts from an agreed position.
Keeping follow-up work across sessions
A CRM review with an AI assistant often produces a list of follow-up actions: contact this lead today, check on this deal next week, send a proposal to this company. If those actions live only in a conversation, they disappear when the session ends.
Recording follow-up tasks in fenbs alongside the relevant decisions means the next session, or a colleague taking over the account, starts with the current state. The AI reads the agreed next steps before checking the CRM, rather than re-deriving them from scratch.
Keep agreed customer follow-up tasks across sessions
After a CRM session, add the follow-up tasks to a fenbs project with the agreed next step, the contact or deal name, and who is responsible. Connect fenbs to ChatGPT through MCP and the next session reads those tasks before opening HubSpot. Use Where we left off to record the current pipeline state and what needs attention first.

When the AI proposes a CRM action it should not take alone
A common pattern in CRM work: the assistant reviews a deal and suggests sending a follow-up email, updating a deal stage, or reassigning a contact. Those are proposals, not actions. Build the habit of reviewing every CRM suggestion before it becomes a change in the system. If the connection has write access, the assistant can make those changes without a separate confirmation step unless you have designed the workflow to require one.
Recording the agreed rules in fenbs helps: for example, "changes to a deal's stage require the account manager to confirm." The assistant reads that rule before suggesting any stage change and knows to ask rather than act.
Using an MCP server for HubSpot
If there is no official connector available for your account, an MCP server for HubSpot can bridge the two. Review any community MCP server carefully before connecting it: check what CRM objects it can read, what actions it can take, and how authentication is handled. A server with broad HubSpot access has significant reach into customer data.
For the general approach to evaluating MCP connections, see ChatGPT connectors and apps. Troubleshooting steps for any connection are in ChatGPT connectors not working.
How to do this with fenbs
- Create a free account and add a project for the sales or account management work.
- Set up the HubSpot connection through your preferred route: official connector or MCP, following the relevant setup guide.
- Connect fenbs to ChatGPT through MCP using Integrations.
- After each CRM session, add the agreed follow-up tasks to fenbs and record any decisions made: which account to prioritize, which approach was agreed for a deal.
- Update Where we left off with the current pipeline priority before ending the session.
When this setup may not fit
If your team uses HubSpot's own AI features for CRM analysis, adding ChatGPT alongside introduces another tool in the same space. fenbs does not connect to HubSpot directly; it holds the work context you add to it. If your team manages follow-up entirely within HubSpot tasks, you may not need an external record unless you also use AI assistants outside of HubSpot.
